VAXD stands for Vertebral Axial Decompression. Let’s begin with a review of how this amazing piece of machinery called your spine can cause you so much pain. Your back structures are under an incredible amount of pressure from the effects of gravity, weight, and consistent daily activities, which imposes a lot of downward weight on your spine.
Your discs, ligaments and back muscles are the shock absorbers that function to protect your back from the daily abuse. And normally your healthy discs are extremely tough. HOW IS VAXD Spinal Decompression TREATMENT APPLIED?
Patients with low back or neck pain are first examined and further evaluated with orthopedic and neurological testing. Patient medical histories, X-rays and CT/MRI films are reviewed to determine if the patient can qualifies for the VAXD procedure. If qualified for VAXD Spinal Decompression Therapy an individual plan (usually consisting of 25 treatment sessions) is developed to meet their specific diagnosis. Each VAXD session is carefully monitored. Each VAXD session is also reviewed in order to maximize the potential benefits and progress to the patient.
 VAXD sessions begin with fitting a patented pelvic harness to the patient designed to achieve decompression of the lumbar spine. Patient lie fully clothed on the VAXD Spinal Decompression table and are properly positioned by Certified VAXD Technician. The VAXD controls and parameters are adjusted with the individual patient's therapy plan. The VAXD procedure commences. The VAXD computerized table will then apply precisely controlled tension along the axis of the spinal column to distract the vertebral segments and posterior joints of the low back and decompress the spinal discs. Each distraction cycle will last sixty seconds then followed by sixty-second relaxation cycle.
Each VAXD therapy session consists of fifteen continuous cycles of distraction/relaxation. The sessions last about thirty minutes. Spinal Decompression treatment is managed automatically by a program located in the computer-programmed console that is continuously monitored by the technician.
